So I hope you will read this post and like it a lot. The reason behind cricket not played in rain is very interesting so read it till the end.

Why isn't cricket played in the rain like football is?

While watching a interesting cricket match , sometimes it starts raining and the match stops suddenly and we get a lot disappointed. Then in some of our mind the question appears that why isn't cricket played in the rain like football is?

Why cricket is not played in the rain

Cricket is a completely different game than football. Playing cricket in rain is difficult whereas football is not a very difficult game to play in rain.

There are a lot of disadvantages of playing cricket in rain. The players will face a lot of problems if cricket is played in rain.

I am going to share many problems and disadvantages that the cricketers face while playing cricket.

1) Ball getting wet in the rain

If we play cricket in the rain then the cricket ball will get wet.

Disadvantage to the bowler is that the ball will tend to slip from the bowler's hand and it will be difficult for the bowler to ball.

Disadvantage for the batsman and the fielder is that they may not be able to view the ball properly when it is raining heavily because the colour of the ball gets lost if the ball gets wet.

In football if the ball gets wet, there will be no problem so it is easy to play football in rain but not cricket.

2) Pitch getting wet in the rain

While playing cricket in the rain, the pitch also gets wet in the rain and this leads to a lot of problems to the players.

Disadvantage to the bowler is that the spin and the swing of the ball gets lost because of the pitch. The bounce of the ball gets lost too. Without spin, swing and bounce bowling will be of no use and the game will become boring.

Disadvantage to the batsman is that the batsman may not be able to hit long boundaries as the ball will not roll for long in the ground because of the wet grass. This will lead to problems in batting.
This is another reason why playing cricket in rain is not suitable like football is.

3) Injuries

Injuries is another very big problem if cricketers play in the rain. Especially fielders will get a lot of hurt while catching the ball in the wet ground.
